Students are given a 16 hour period to review all of the documents and submit a bid package by midnight of the competition. Every three years a new Dallas based construction company steps in to administer the competion. Once the bid package is submitted the team presents their bid package in front of judges who work for the company that constructed or will construct the building the students bid on. Each year students are presented with a new project and a new set of challenges that may come during the bid process of construction. AUI sponsored the event and provided their plans and specifications for the New Baker Storm Water Pump Station The project included the construction of Baker #3 Storm Water Pump Station and refurbishment of the New Baker Storm Water Pump Station. The four new pumps have a combined capacity of 700,000 GPM. Our competition team consisting of Lee Pelton, Nic Espinoza, Luis Espinoza, Nick Darani, Ethan Spencer, and Hayden Richardson (as pictured, from left to right, below the text) placed a bid of $34 million, which was only $2 million off of the actual bid of $32 million. For debriefing AUI took all the competing schools to the actual job site and the students got a first hand look at the project they where working on. We are very proud of our team's efforts as it was a first time for each of them to perform in this competition. We have high hopes and expectations for the 2014 competition.
