AGC National Convention Trip
Two ACET students where selected to attend the AGC Convention held this year in Las Vegas, Nevada. All of the AGC events where held at the Bellagio hotel. They attended the AGC Student Chapter Session where they announced this years AGC Student Chapter and also the winner of the essay. It was a great learning experience, good exposure, and networking opportunities with some of the industries finest. Along with guest speakers including a Project Manager who worked on the tallest building in the world the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The next day was the first day of the Construction Expo 2014. There our students experienced first hand the newest equipment and softwares available to the construction industry. On their last day, Dr. Shenoda took the students on a field trip to visit the Hoover Dam and the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge that spans over the Colorado River in the boarder line of Arizona and Nevada. This was truly a one of a kind experience for our ACET students!
Union Construction Site Tour
On February 21, 2014 ACET student and CNET professors took a tour of the University Union construction job site. Beck Group the General Contractor of the project invited their guests to their office trailer on site and went though their rendering designs and sustainable features. ACET students learned more about LEED projects and got the opportunity to talk to Beck's GC, CM, LEED Engineer, Architect and a few other staff members. They also walked trough the job site with the engineers. It was a great tour for construction engineering students and there will be a second tour of the interior of the building for students next semester.
ACET Outreach Project
ACET hosted an architectural drawing game to welcome a group 50+ middle school students touring UNT's Discovery Park Facility. The students where divided into 8 teams, and a set of drawings where provided to each team. ACET showed them how to read and identify the drawings in order for them to answer the questions correctly. There where prizes for the winners and all the future engineers enjoyed their experience at UNT.
Deer Stand Fundraiser
A group of CNET students helped build this deer stand in about 6 weeks. Many of them came and helped out whenever they could. Professor DeSimone was always there to guide her students. We raised a total of $370 for ACET and it was delivered successfully.
Homecoming 2013, Football Toss!
UNT ACET Students hosted a tailgate where Mean Green Fans had the opportunity to compete in a football toss game. The event was a success, filled with a lot of fun and hard work ACET raised over $250. ACET would like to give special recognition to Kyle Gallagher for his efforts and taking charge of this committee. Thank you for coming and helping out Doug, Mychal, Kevin, Andrew, Lee, Whitney, Adam, Francisco, and Mahsa. Also thank you Professor DeSimone for stopping by and always supporting CNET.
Nucor Building Systems Facility Tour
A group of UNT ACET students received a full tour of NUCOR Building Systems facility in Terrell, TX. They met with all the departments of NUCOR such as engineering, detailing, estimating, sales management, and sales service. They also visited the steel fabrication shop and looked at the BIM software they use known as Tekla Structures. NUCOR offers internship and employment opportunities for UNT students.

Volunteering at Hearts for Homes
AGC Students volunteered with Hearts for Homes which focuses on helping low-income elderly homeowners with the repairs they need. AGC Students painted the exterior of the home and completed a number of other random tasks the home needed.
Hammer Time At The Hill
The tailgate was sponsored by NUCOR Buiding Systems and the UNT Student Government. UNT Construction Students hosted a tailgate where Mean Green Fans had the opportunity to compete against a CNET Student in hammering.
Playhouse Project
UNT Student worked together to complete the construction of a playhouse for fundraising.

NASCC Steel Conference
Dr. Cheng Yu was invited to speak at the NASCC Conference sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction. Dr. Yu's speech topic was his research he performs on cold-formed steel. A mixed group of Construction Management Graduate Students and Construction Engineering bachelor students attended the conference.
Nucor Building Systems Facility Tour

A group a UNT CES students visited the NUCOR building systems factors in Terrel, TX.
They met with NUCOR engineers, detailers, sales representatives, and logistics managers. We believe this relationship can lead to new opportunities for Construction Students at UNT.
__Volunteer at Hearts for Homes
A group of UNT CES students volunteered for Hearts for Homes. They helped the organization
install flooring, plumbing tests, drove a bobcat, and lastly helped to move heavy materials in the warehouse.
